NOTICE: Boaters—Heads Up on Low Columbia River Levels 

The Columbia River is running lower than normal this summer, and it’s already affecting boaters here in Columbia County—from St. Helens to Prescott and Goble.

What to watch for:

• Shallow launches and exposed hazards
• Stronger currents and shifting sandbars
• Dock access issues—some are high and dry

Flows are down nearly 20% from average at Bonneville, thanks to early snowmelt and reduced runoff this year (CRITFC, NW Council).

Plan ahead:

• Check tides and depths before launching
• Go slow near unfamiliar channels
• Report hazards to local marinas or the Port
